To enjoy authentic Japanese food in Chennai one must head to Akasaka. Around now for almost 15 years, Akasaka is open only for dinner. Run by a Japanese husband wife team, Akasaka is a gastronomic journey to the country with completely traditional Japanese food. They serve extremely fresh sushi and sashimi which the chef carefully prepares himself. One must be there early before the catch for the day gets over. The setting is simple minimalistic and oriental. There are the typical floor seating cabins to add to the entire experience but there is the regular table & chair seating as well. With the television showing popular Japanese channels and the crowd cheering and talking in Japanese, one sometimes feels like they are back in Japan!
But its the food which is the best not only in Chennai but in the country too!

To go early so as to not miss the sushi, sashimi, miso soup and the tempura ( both prawn and vegetable).
